The good thing about reading in the very active corner of fandom that H/D is: heaps of brilliant stories to read.
The bad thing about reading in the very active corner of fandom that H/D is: heaps of brilliant  stories to read.

Oh well, it's not really bad, it's just.. so many stories worth a read and so little time. I wish I could take a month off and spend the time on my little balcony reading fic. Alas, not going to happen, which means I'll probably be busy for a while with the following fics:

Of course you want to know what I'll be reading the next two weeks! )

Btw. feel free to rec all the great stuff I probably missed while neglecting fandom in most of 2010. Or anything from any other time, too. As you see with Drop Dead Gorgeous there are still some classics I didn't get around to reading, yet.  :)

As someone suffering from a very severe form of lurking I love the Idea behind Glompfest. And I just posted my first ever prompt, which was definitely an interesting experience as it made me think what a (not the) perfect fic for me would look like. Anyways, there are so many great prompt already, I'm really looking forward to the stories/ the art that's to come. Yay.

OMG I actually posted a prompt.  )

Real life has been a bitch lately. Actually for a couple of weeks already and I guess it will stay like this for some more.
Just so you know I'm not dead yet. Just severely busy getting my life to behave the way I want it to.

Listening to this.
Reading and re-reading a little of that.
And absolutely indulging in a very bleak and dramatic mood today.

Any fic/art you could recommend matching it?
ariannagray: (cedric cant dazzle)
Things I like:

Reading a novel-lenght story.
A story that has everything you want in a fanfic (in this case: a great plot!, two people desperately in love, drama, angst, prospect of a believable "kinda happy ending").
A story that is written exceptionally well and makes you stay up til 4 in the morning. Twice! (Thank god I don't have to be at uni on Mondays.)

Things I don't like:

When the author fucks up the end of the story because they can't be arsed to tie up the loose ends and answer the remaining questions (I don't mind minor things being unresolved, but stuff like someone surviving an avada kedavra or a main character disappearing and reappearing after several chapters kinda calls for an explanation, doesn't it?).
I know sometimes after spending a lot of time on writing a piece you really want to be finished with it and move on to something new, but it breaks my heart and annoys me to no end if someone destroys their own work  just like this.

It's not that I'm disappointed because there was no totally happy ending. I would have probably been much happier with an unhappy one because at least it would have fit the story and not resulted in everything being left open/ explained in this "just because"-way. Better an unhappy ending than a construced, forced happy one.

Argh.

.. you go down the street in that little town you live in, see those two guys - one with brown, messy hair and glasses, the other one with this slighty longer, light blond hair - passing you together and your heart just goes awwwww.
